The SCCOE’s Career and Adult Learning Services department offers a high school diploma program for adult learners, a workforce development program for 16-24-year-olds, and career training programs for adults. We work closely with district and industry business partners to stay updated with industry and workforce trends. Read below to learn more about our program offerings!

Career and Adult Learning Services Programs

A. Career Advancement Charter Earn your High School Diploma at the CAC!

  1. The Career Advancement Charter (CAC) is an Independent Study program for adult learners to earn their high school diploma while gaining academic and technical skills that will lead to college and career readiness.

B. Sueños Program 

  1. Develop career readiness and workplace skills!

    1. Sueños supports teenagers and young adults (ages 16 to 24) develop workplace skills that will prepare them to enter and thrive in an increasingly competitive labor market. Sueños is a Santa Cruz County Office of Education (SCCOE) program in partnership with the Workforce Development Board of Santa Cruz County.

Career Training Programs for Adults
A. Medical Assisting

  1. The Santa Cruz County Office of Education is proud to offer a career pathway into a medical assisting career. 

  2. This 10-month course teaches the necessary skills and knowledge needed to perform the duties of a medical assistant.  Students participating will understand the role of both the administrative and clinical medical assistant.   

  3. Upon successful completion of the program, students will receive the following four certifications that are required by the state of California to become a registered medical assistant:

  • Administrative and Clinical Skills

  • Injection and Phlebotomy

  • American Red Cross CPR/1st Aid

  • American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support)
